Hassan: There was widespread rain around the city of Hassan last night including the district, causing damage to properties worth lakhs of rupees.
In Deve Gowda city due to strong wind and rain, the electric pole has fallen down and the electricity connection has been cut off since 8:30 last night and the people are in a state of panic. Till now the repair of electricity connection in Deve Gowda city has not been completed. More than 5 electric poles have broken down here and the repair work is in progress.
Altaf’s house here has been completely damaged and the roof has collapsed.Due to the rains that have come with unprecedented winds in the last 20 years, the roof has been damaged and the clothes and other things collected on the occasion of Altaf’s sister’s wedding have been completely damaged. New clothes were collected for her sister’s wedding on June 4.
The neighboring house Nanjamma’s house was also completely damaged. Due to the strong wind, the entire roof of the house flew up to the side road and hit the light pole, which broke the pole.
A light pole fell on Mohan’s Active Honda which was parked in front of his house in Deve Gowda Nagar and caused damage. So far neither the representatives nor the officials have investigated and taken steps to solve the problem.
Officials said that since 12 noon, the cars of the power corporation are engaged in the repair work and there are possibilities of electricity connection by evening.
In many areas of Hassan city, tree trunks have fallen and water has entered the low-lying areas. The rain started at 8:30 pm and continued for more than one and a half hours. Widespread rain has fallen in other taluks including Sakaleshpur Alur, Channarayapatna, Belur of the district.
