Farmers laid siege to the forest department
Hassan: Farmers who are the land owners came to the district forest department of the city to ask for the reason because they have been ploughing the land and growing crops for their livelihood, but now all of a sudden this land has become a forest.
Tens of farmers from the village of Javagal Hobali came to the district forest house, they said that the forest department has suddenly issued a notice to all of us, which have been growing crops on the farm since the time of our grandfather, muttata for hundreds of years. The account as pani in 1978-79 is all over by issuing a cultivation certificate. But now the forest department is giving notice and asking to join the forest. Revenue has also been collected so far. If the farmers come to the forest department in Hassan Nagar to question this, there are no officials in the office. If we show the Pani and Cultivation certificates to them, they say that all these are fake.
He said that if we go to ask for the record in the taluk office, we don’t have it, they are playing a game. Earlier we were given Cultivation Certificate and Pani along with getting a loan on the land. When asked, he said that Mysore belonged to the Maharaja. There are 5700 acres of land in one of Ajjampur, now notice has been given to all of them. A total of 11 villages are included in Javagal Hobli. He warned that our land should be given to us or else we will have to protest every night.
Hundreds of farmers including Santhosh Kumar, Umesh, Dayanand, Devaraju, Kesavamurthy, and Boregowda who lost their land had gathered in front of Aranya Bhavan.
