Hassan: As the 2023 state assembly elections are approaching, rapid political developments are taking place in the district and HD Kumaraswamy’s visit to Congress leader Shashidhar’s house in Araseikere is a surprise.
Araseikere Congress leader J.P. Shashidhar is the successful candidate in the last Araseikere assembly election. In the last election, he secured the second position by securing more than 50,000 votes against the JDS candidate and sitting MLA KM Shivalingegowda.
This visit is a surprising development as Sasidhar, who is an influential leader of the Lingayat community who has crucial votes in the Araseikere assembly constituency, has resigned from the membership of the Congress party.
Sashidhar’s visit has become more important after Congress has given a ticket to sitting MLA KM Sivalinge Gowda in Araseekere Assembly Constituency.
Already in Araseekere Assembly Constituency MLA Shivlinge Gowda is canvassing on behalf of the Congress party and Congress state leaders have already visited and campaigned for Shivlinge Gowda.
It is said that Banavara Ashok from the JDS party was going to contest at Shashidhar’s house and prominent leaders of JDS, including Banavara Ashok, visited Shashidhar’s house and it is said that Kumaraswamy spoke to Sashidhar to support Banavara Ashok in the next assembly elections and cooperate for the victory of JDS.
It has been learned that Shashidhar has asked Kumaraswamy for a few days’ time to support Banavara Ashok and take a decision on joining the JDS party and then he will clarify his position.
