Hassan: Congress leader Deva Raje Gowda joked that the budget presented by the state BJP government this time is like “putting flowers in people’s ears and smearing ghee on their noses”.
Speaking at a press conference, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai, who recently presented the budget, presented a budget of approximately 3.09 lakh crores. But Hassan accused the district of neglecting the district by not allocating a special grant to it in the budget.
Out of the seven MLAs of the district, 6 JDS MLAs have failed to bring grants through their influence, while Pritam J Gowda, the MLA of Hassan Assembly Constituency, complained that they failed to persuade the Chief Minister and bring special grants.
If we look at the overall budget, he criticized that the important development works for Hassan district are a mirage and they have failed to end the elephant-human conflict that is a daily concern of the people of Sakleshpura. He said that the conflict cannot be prevented by building a barrier for elephants alone.
He alleged that no words were mentioned in the budget to encourage tourism in Hassan, which has various important historical tourist spots in the district, and the government has not proposed any work to encourage job creation by setting up new industries in the district.
He complained that not allocating money in the budget to provide support prices for coffee and cardamom, which are important crops, is a betrayal of the district.
Amjad Khan, Shivakumar, Abdul Samad, Devappa, and Ashok were there.
