Hassan: We condemn the BJP government’s sudden cancellation of 4% reservation under the backward classes for the Muslim minority, which is recognized as the second largest community in the state, due to political malice, said Abdul Sammad, president of the district unit of the Congress minority.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that 4% reservation in the 2B category was being given since 1995. But it is not right that the BJP government has taken this kind of action with political malice, he said.
Based on Justice Nagana Gowda Venkataswamy Commission and Justice Chinnappa Reddy Commission reports in the state in 1990, Chief Minister Virappa Moily decided to give a 4% quota in 2B category to socially and educationally backward minority Muslims in education and government jobs, but today’s government hates the abolition of reservation and voting for the BJP party. He shouted that the reservation was cancelled for the sole reason that he would not do it.
He said that there were no reasons and reports before the government for cancelling the reservation of a community, but such action was condemned and the Muslim community had taken legal action to act patiently and no other outrageous decisions had been taken.
Muhammad Arif, Salim, Khalid Mansur, and Mohd were present at the press conference
