Hassan: President Dani presented the budget of Belur Municipality 2023-24 with an initiation fee of Rs 12.87 lakh, an expected income of Rs 29.50 crore, an expected expenditure of Rs 29.38 crore and savings of Rs 35.03 lakh.
Speaking at the annual budget meeting held at Velapuri hall of the town municipality, he said that the central and state government grants were expected due to the constant influx of tourists to the world-famous Belur.
Property tax is Rs 2.10 crores, shop rent is Rs 2.25 crores, water charges Rs 45 lakhs, internal sewerage charges and other income and expenditure. He said that he is satisfied with the current year’s presentation of the savings budget despite the emphasis on comprehensive development.
Member G. Shanthakumar said that although Belur is a tourist destination, the tourism and other grants from the central and state governments are being spent only on Hassan Nagar and Chikkamagaluru. Analyzing the budget, he said that the UGD in the town is still not comprehensive, so more funding should have been given.
Member Paint Ravi and Jamaluddin addressed the event. Chief Sujay Kumar and Municipal Deputy Chairperson Usha Satish were at the meeting.
