Belur: Taluk Health Officer Dr Vijay said that on the one hand, there is a lack of nutrition in the food children eat, but on the other hand, the worms in the children’s bodies are consuming the food and making them sick.
Speaking at the National Deworming Day program held at the government hospital hall in the town, the number of children suffering from malnutrition has increased in the country. He said that several programs are being organized to reduce this.
He said that National Deworming Day is being celebrated by giving deworming pills called All Bendazole to children in the month of March to reduce malnutrition in children and protect children from deworming.
Due to deworming, the nutritious food consumed by the children is properly available to the children’s bodies. He suggested that apart from taking deworming pills, they should develop the habit of washing their hands after going to the toilet and before eating.
Senior Health Education Officer said that as part of the National Deworming Day, all Anganwadi Centers, government, aided and unaided private schools including college children from 1 year to 19 years of age will be given free deworming pills on March 13.
