Belur: M. under Hebbalu village panchayat of taluk. An incident took place on Tuesday evening in M Hunasekere village of the taluk, where a village panchayat member and her husband and his brother were assaulted as the work of the cement road being constructed in Hunasekere village was poor and the quality was maintained.
Hebbalu gram panchayat member Shobha’s husband Chandresh and Rangaswamy were assaulted by Hebbalu constituency gram panchayat member Girish and his friend Ramesh Sachin and are undergoing treatment at Belur Government Hospital.
Speaking to the media, Gram Panchayat member Shobha said that money was released for the construction of a cement road costing Rs. 20 lacks for the road development of M Hunsikere village under the grant of MLA. Gram panchayat member Girish and I had a conflict last 15 days. He complained that Girish was harassing me without letting me do any work from the panchayat.
When I asked the contractor who had started the road work of Katachara to stop the work, he said that my husband and his brother were insulted by caste abuse and attacked with unintelligible words.
When he came to the hospital for treatment at night, the men followed him and assaulted him for the second time, the hospital’s CCTV recorded. These three persons have threatened to kill me and have lodged a complaint with the police station asking me to protect them and have demanded that a case be registered. He demanded appropriate action against the attackers.
