Konanur: Winning or losing is not important in tournaments, win the hearts of the people of this region by showing good performance. Prove your talent in this field. Former minister A. Manju said that this will help the people of our rural areas to come forward in sports.
He addressed the players while inaugurating the third colour Kempegowda Cup Kabaddi tournament organized by Okkaliga Sangha in nearby Hulikal village on Sunday.
He said that sports should not be limited to one day but should be practised continuously every day and participate in tournaments held all over the country and bring pride to the taluk and the village as the best athletes in the country. Vidhan Parishad member Suraj Revanna said that today’s youth should not play more games on mobile phones but should take more and more interest in rural sports which provide mental and physical health. Villagers should also encourage local athletes by organizing more such rural sports. I visited all the taluks of the district and gave grants for various development works, gave special grants to Hulikal village and gave grants for temple development in many parts of Mallipatnam Hobli. He said that he has given a lot of grants to Arakalagudu taluk for school building maintenance, roads, welfare hall maintenance, sewerage, cement roads etc. On this occasion, social worker Suresh Singanakuppe, leaders S.C. Chaudegowda, officers and members of Okkaligar Sangh, Mallikanna, Diwakara Gaudru, Bettadahalli Mahesh, leaders, dignitaries etc. were present.
