Hassan: In the background of the government’s neglect to protect the welfare of government employees without making any proposal in the budget regarding salary revision, increase in allowances and implementation of the old pension system, the state government employees’ union has protested. Krishna Gowda, president of the district unit of the Government Employees Union, said that it has been decided to hold an indefinite strike across the state from 1.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that in the budget of the government for the year 2023-24, there was a plan to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission for the state government employees and to implement the old pension system. He said that the Government Employees Union has decided to hold an indefinite strike on March 1 across the state.
The union has given a deadline of the 28th to fulfil their demand, and if the demand is not fulfilled, the government employees should take part in an indefinite strike voluntarily from March 1.
The union had demanded that the salary revision be equal to the central government employees’ salary and the new pension system should be cancelled and the old pension system should be implemented. Also, it was expected that these two demands of the government employees would be fulfilled in this year’s budget. The interest has been completely ignored. Therefore, since the state government employees union has decided to go on strike, they requested that all the government employees should support the strike. Pradeep Kumar, Shivaswamy, Suresh, and Raghu were present at the press conference.
