Channarayapatna: The sit-in satyagraha on behalf of Karnataka State Farmers Association and Green Army will end on March 29 in Bengaluru against the Karnataka Gramin Bank’s agricultural loan collection system, R.Mada Vareddy, president of the state unit of the State Farmers’ Association and Green Army, said.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that the Dharani Satyagraha Yatra will start from Bellary on March 6 and the concluding ceremony will be held on March 29 at the Freedom Park in Bengaluru.
There are 28 branches of Karnataka Grameen Bank in the state, most of the farmers have taken loans from Kaveri Grameen Bank, Udaipur Kaveri Grameen Bank has taken loans from Udaipur Kaveri Grameen Bank and farmers have purchased tractors, now the bank has come forward to recover about 32 lakh rupees along with interest. Manjegowda of Haralapur said that they will not allow this money to be paid to the bank. He informed that the payment will be made if the principal is reduced by 50%.
He said thousands of farmers will besiege the head office of Kaveri Rural Bank in Bengaluru.
The price of coconut in the state also fell by 9,000 kchintal and expressed outrage that what the central government and state governments are doing about it.
