Hassan: Truck Terminal Limited director of D Devaraj Arasu and former Vidhan Parishad member D. L. Veeriah said to identify the government land for the construction of the proposed truck terminal in the district and submit a proposal to the government.
In the hall of the District Collector’s office, he held a meeting with the entrepreneurs regarding the identification and allocation of the construction of the truck terminal. He said that the construction of the truck terminal will prevent road accidents, traffic jams and air pollution, but also the city will develop and the local people will get employment opportunities.
30-40 acres of government land is required for the construction of a proposed truck terminal. Veeriah said that there is an intention to build a petrol station, service police chowki, toilet, exercise room, hotel way-bridge, ATM centre, 5-6 Dastun stores, dormitory and other basic facilities.
He said that there are already truck terminals in 8 districts of the state, similarly, if a truck terminal is constructed in Hassan district, it will help the lorry drivers and cleaners coming to the district from different states.
He instructed the tehsildars to construct a rest station under the central government’s PM Gati-Shakti scheme in the taluks where the national highway passes in the district to help the lorry drivers and cleaners plying in the district to rest for some time and identify suitable places for providing basic facilities.
District Collector Archana spoke and directed the officials to identify the government space in a proper manner. Nagar Sabha Chairman Mohan, Deputy Divisional Officer Kripalini, Municipal Commissioner Parameshwarappa, Regional Transport Officer Mallesh, KIADB Assistant Executive Engineer Srinivas Joshi, Tehsildar and others were present.
