Hassan: To protect the environment, the municipal authorities have raided many shops and seized banned plastic covers.

The municipal officials raided many places including the shop on Ganigara street of the town, raided the bakery, grocery shop, clothing shop and various shops and confiscated the plastic stored in the shops.

Municipal Environment Development Officer Madhusudan said that if any plastic usage is found when visiting the shops, the business license of the shops will be revoked and appropriate action will be taken.

Municipal health inspector Jyoti Ma Thanadi said plastic that is not recycled does not dissolve in the earth. If it is burned, the pollution will often make people sick. People should wake up because cancer is the cause of disease. Request to use cloth bags instead of plastic covers. Although plastic bags have been banned under the Solid Waste Management, Plastic Materials Management and Regulation Act, of 2016, some shop owners have been selling plastic envelopes and giving them to customers to carry items. So today we raided and captured the cover, he said.
