Belur: Tehshildar M. Mamata visited the village and conducted an inspection in the wake of threats to the villagers to convert to Christianity.
In Kabbinamane Colony of the taluk, the recent converts to Christianity, apart from harassing us daily to convert those who were Hindus to Christianity, the Hindu deities Gurupanjara Valli and Airavalli Swami, which we have been worshiping in our land for several years, have been set on fire.
Tehsildar M. Mamata spoke to the villagers today and said that everyone should respect each other for their beliefs and kindness. At first everyone is human. Living in the same village should live in harmony with each other. No one should be pressured to follow the same beliefs and traditions. In case of such complaint, legal action will be taken. As the model code of conduct is already in force, all the villagers have been instructed not to disturb law and order. He visited the place where it was complained that the fire had been set on purpose, warned him not to repeat such an incident and told him to clean the place immediately.
