Hassan: In response to farmers’ struggle, the Government of India withdrew the Agriculture Acts as legislation. Kodihalli Chandrasekhar, the President of the State Farmers Union, warned that the implementation of these laws is being done in the state, and if this continues, the state government will have to face the consequences.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Government of India implemented the Agriculture Act through an ordinance to implement the Agriculture Act, which was legally withdrawn through farmers’ protests. The state government is working to implement the agricultural laws that were implemented through ordinances when Yeddy Eurappa was the chief minister of the state and instead of withdrawing them, the state government is working to implement those laws. He demanded that the government withdraw the electricity act immediately and stop disturbing the illegal activities and maintain the interest of the farmers, as it is summer season, the pump sets should be provided with quality electricity for 7 to 10 hours during the day to overcome the lack of water for livestock and crops.
The main rights of the farmers are that all the farmers across the district have been cultivating on government Go Mala, government fallow land for 50-60 years and such land should be given to the farmers for sanctioned cultivation immediately. The attempt to grab the forest land in Araseikere taluk the government should be stopped immediately. He said that for 5 years Bagar Hukum Committee has been formed through Tehsildar in Alur Sakaleshpura part, the cultivators are still not sanctioned, they should be given sanctioned cultivation immediately. Although the Chief Minister himself has given a statement that the crop loan of the farmers will be waived off and there should be no problem with the remaining money, the banks should stop sending notices and causing problems immediately. All the farmers of the district submitted an application about the crop damage along with a photo of the complete damage and they have been discriminated against due to the natural calamity. Some farmers who lost their plantations and some valuable trees without giving compensation money have not received the compensation money. He said that he should proceed to give it immediately. In Channarayapatna taluk, the houses that have fallen due to excessive rain during the rainy season do not get compensation and those who lost their houses should get compensation immediately. Hemavathi demanded that the sugar karkha should reduce the financial problems of the farmers by paying black wages.
