Speaking at the press conference, he said ART treatment is necessary to protect the health of HIV-infected people. But there is a reluctance to get this treatment due to financial difficulties. Therefore, Prakriti Samu Daya Seva Organization is treating the infected patients as much as possible with the help of donors. He said that the HIV community is not getting privileges from the government as per the need.
Chandrasekhar of Jeevanashram Network said that it is difficult for the HIV community to live in the public sector. The government has promised to provide other welfare facilities including housing for the infected, but it has not been fulfilled so far. They are being deprived of government facilities. Also, local government hospitals are hesitating to treat the infected. Not getting ART pills properly. The dosage step is higher in an ART pill which requires nutrition to balance it. But the middle-class people are suffering due to financial difficulties and are not able to buy, he said. He requested that the government should pay more attention to ART treatment. He alleged that Dvewe has already requested to distribute the Antodaya card and is not taking any steps in this regard.
HIV is often spread from infected people to others and it is very important to be aware of the infection. Channaraya Town, Araseekere, and Hassan are registering more positive cases. In Hassan, 40 to 50 people are getting infected every month. He said that it is sad that it is increasing especially among the young generation.
