Hassan: The members of the Provident Fund Labor Pensioners’ Welfare Association staged a protest in front of the District Collector’s office demanding the fulfilment of various demands including payment of a monthly pension of at least 7500 to the Labor Provident Fund pensioners.
Direct recruitment in Central and State Governments, other Government Boards, Corporations, Co-operatives and Autonomous Private Organizations and all retired employees who have completed 30 to 40 years of service are covered under the Labor Provident Fund Scheme and under the Labor Pension Scheme, 1995.
All these retired employees are about 75 lakhs across the country and belong to the organization and demanded to provide them with the necessary pension system.
Unaware of the Labor Provident Fund and its benefits even after several years of their retirement, they complained that the EPS-95 pension fund, which only provides a pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 a month, makes it impossible for an elderly couple to sustain daily life.
There is no use in meeting almost all the MPs and submitting several requests in this regard, the leaders of our organization have met the Prime Minister twice and promised to review the request.
He said that he is submitting a request to the Prime Minister through the Collector today to draw the attention of the central government to consider our plight and help the community with EPS-95 pension by providing more financial benefits and health schemes.
Association president GO Mahanthappa and office bearers were present in the protest.
