Most of the members who spoke in the ongoing meeting of the City Council General Assembly convened under the chairmanship of City Council President Mohan demanded that necessary measures should be taken to control the problem of stray dogs in the 35 wards of the city.
Encroachment of conservancies: Requirement to give notice
Member Babu requested that all the members should take a consensus decision that the prestigious hotels and nursing homes in the city are encroaching on the conservancies and using them to park their hospital vehicles including canteens, city scan centres, etc.
He said that the city council should take possession of the space in front of Mallige Residency, here also the hotel is using it for parking and take necessary action. Member Babu requested the President to implement all these issues adequately.
Vijaya brought to the attention of the meeting that there is a problem with the UGD connection in our ward and the works under the urban development plan have not been done in our ward. Municipal council chairman Mohan said that he will check and take action.
Municipal Commissioner Parameshwarappa and other officials were present on this occasion.
Stray dog plague
Dogs roam in herds in the wards and recently it was brought to the attention of the Municipal Council that a herd of dogs was eating a dead cow so that the surrounding environment stinks and the menace of dogs is extreme. There is a situation where children, old people and women walk in fear on the road.
In this regard, he demanded that the Municipal Council should consider the matter seriously.
Municipal council member Girish Chennaveerappa said that the dog plague has been present in the city for many years. Dogs can be controlled by sterilization surgery. Menak Gandhi complained that if our children face any danger to their lives due to dogs, the animal charity association will not come.
Later, the member Shankar who spoke said that it is appropriate to perform sterilization surgery on dogs but during the recent operation even domestic dogs are being shunned by doing this surgery and this should be paid attention to, only stray dogs should be caught and subjected to surgery.
