Konanur: In Basavapattana village of Ramanathapura Hobli, Vipra Bhandhas living abroad as well as local Vipra Bhandhas celebrated Bhanu Vara Okali with great enthusiasm. Here, from small children to 80-year-olds, Okali was celebrated as a festival with great joy.
On the morning after Sri Rama’s coronation, after completing the festival, puja, Mahamangalarati and receiving prasadam, all the men and women went to play Okali in front of the houses of the village and celebrated by throwing the colored water on each other. Along the way, Hanuman chanted bhajans and kirtans.
At the end, all the men gathered in the premises of Sri Ram Mandir, kept Okali water in big stones around it, chanted bhajans, kirtans and danced for about an hour, taking water from the stone and sprinkling it on each other, and celebrated Okali with great excitement.
The women and children of the village stood and watched from the upper floors of the houses to witness this wonderful moment.
