Aluru: An incident took place in the taluk where the Hemavati Reservoir Protest Committee, which was held on Wednesday, came late to the protest site and shouted at Tehsildar Meghana G., who was apathetic and blocked her from coming out.
The protest rally started from the Veerashaiva Kalyana Mandapam in Aluru town at 11 am on the premises of the taluk office. Hemavati Reservoir Relief Committee District President Retired Special Collector Krishna said that although 50 years have passed since Goruru Hemavati Reservoir was flooded, about 10,000 families and about 50,000 people are suffering because their land has not been repaired.
In Survey No. 1 of Babaforest, out of 306 families, only 59 people have lost their lives, while 247 families have not yet lost their lives. Many sanctioned farmers have died. Due to the lack of compensation for the affected farmers who got replacement land in various villages including Manipur, Baba, Baba Forest, Dharmapuri, Manipur, Bairapur, Singapura, Haluvalli, Madagere, the land of the refugee farmers who have lost in hundreds of problems such as to account from father to children, get government facilities, road problems etc. The main reason is that the authorities and people’s representatives are neglecting to fix it. He said that he had applied in this regard in the “Nade Halli Kade” program to no avail.
