Hassan: District Collector M.S. Archana has ordered to declare a non-drinking (dry) day throughout the district for smooth voting and counting of votes in connection with the Karnataka Assembly general elections.
Voting on May 10 and counting of votes on May 13 is going on, in this background from 6 am on May 8 to 6 am on May 11 and Alcohol consumption has been banned from 6 am on 13th to 6 pm on May 14. As per the direction of the Election Commission, precautionary measures have to be taken to prevent any untoward incident during the polling and counting of votes and to prevent any disturbance to law and order, all types of intoxicating liquor and liquor storage, liquor sale, liquor manufacturing unit and supply of liquor in all types of star hotels, dhabas, restaurants across Hassan district. Sale, transportation and supply are prohibited.
